Providing Soccer Opportunities to Children of All Skill Levels in the Northwest Metro Area.

Looking For Volunteers.

The Monticello Soccer Club is an all-volunteer organization that relies upon its parents and player members to succeed.  As an incentive to volunteer, the club offers a $40 refund to each travel player who volunteers (or parent volunteers) up to 4 hours of time.  Volunteer jobs can be weed-whipping around goals, helping clean out the soccer shed, or acting as a field marshall when the club hosts the U12 and U16 girls district tournaments.  There are always club activities that need attending, so please contact a board member if you are interested.

New Fundraising Opportunity Coming in July!

The club has decided to go ahead with a great new fundraising opportunity for its travel soccer teams.  Teams and their players can sell scrips, which are just like gift cards, from numerous retailers like Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and even Amazon.com.  Each retailer has agreed to give the seller of the scrip a 2-15% discount on the price of the scrip.  That difference is the profit for the team that sells the scrip. The purchasers of the scrips generate revenue for teams by making purchases they would make anyway.  The club will split the profits from each scrip sale with the team that sells the scrip.

For more information, please check out the website for Great Lakes Scrip Center at http://www.glscrip.com.

Next Board Meeting Moved to Friday, July 10.

So that the club can address preparations for the district tournaments we'll be hosting, Riverfest, and end of league play, the July meeting of the Monticello Soccer Club board will be held on Friday, July 10, starting at 6:00 pm at the Monticello Community Center.  In addition to district tounament planning, the board will also be preparing its budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.  All club members and the public are welcome to attend.

THANKS TO OUR TEAMS FOR MAKING THE CHALLENGER CAMPS A SUCCESS!

The Monticello Soccer Club wishes to thank all its teams and participants for making our week of Challenger Soccer Camps a success.  It was a lot of soccer for the kids and parents, but we hope it provided some really valuable coaching to the players while having a good time.

Based on the incredibly positive feedback we received from all the responding teams, the club has already registered to hold the camps again next year.  We'll make some changes to make things more convenient for the teams and eliminate some of the minor glitches we had this first year.

River Eagles Dominate MapleBrook Tournament!

Congratulations to all the Monticello River Eagles teams that won their respective brackets at the 2009 MapleBrook Invitational Tournament.  The U12, U15, and U17 Boys and the U17 Girls teams took home championships over the last weekend in May.  Your efforts and those of the other River Eagle participants are greatly appreciated.
