The Monticello Soccer Club's success can be measured in numerous ways. From the fact that a club of only 16 travel teams can produce a premier-level team that competed in the Midwest Regional League, to the fact that a quarter of its travel teams will be playing at the Classic 1 level in 2010.
Another measure of the club's success is the competitiveness of the Monticello High School's soccer teams. The boys teams has been the champion or co-champion of the Mississippi 8 Conference since its inception. Both teams are regularly ranked in the top fifteen Single A high school teams. Yet another indicator of the club's success are the numerous players from our club that go on to play soccer at college, even for Division I teams.
The club sees the best measure of its success being our ability to retain players from their introduction at rec soccer through their competitive years of high school soccer. Many players starting in other clubs jump from club-to-club trying to find a home. Not only does the Monticello Soccer Club retain its players, but every year we see an influx of players at the older ages that come to us because they are dissatisfied with their previous club and have heard such great things about us.
The reason for the Monticello Soccer Club's success is the effort put in by the dozens of volunteers every year that not only help coach and manager 500 players, but also maintain our fields, help with fundraisers, and help other parents get their kids to practices and games. Not only would the club not experience its success without these volunteers, but the kids would undoubtedly not enjory the game as much as they do.
