REC COACHES -

Thank you Thank you Thank you for agreeing to be a coach for rec soccer. We couldn't do this without you. This year MSC asks you to attend a coaches meeting to get your roster, uniforms and coaching manual. We have two nights for you to attend Thurs March 25th at 7:30 in the board room at the Middle School or March 30th same place and time. Please make every effort to attend one of these meetings.

During this time we will go over rules for each age group, hand out uniforms (balls are here as well you will get those at the first practice) expectations and schedule. We will then answer any questions.

Lisa Berry-Koeppen is the rec coordinator with Sue Anderson assisting with email and communication. Lisa's cell phone is 763-350-5233. Lisa prefers phone calls to email. Sue will typically answer the emails. In saying that most of our communication to all rec players and coaches will be through emails.  Please check them before each practice and game.

We are in need of 9 more coaches for rec.  Please help out so all teams have coaches.

Saturday game schedule:

Thank you again so much for all the time, enthusiasm and passion you bring to help keep the game of soccer going in Monticello.

Lisa and Sue

By the way- This is our 15th year of rec soccer thanks to the O'Neils who started it all. We also have had 5 years of section champions between boys and girls. Soccer what a kick.

REC PLAYERS -

All requests for playing days have been honored.  You should receive a phone call from your coach for sure after March 30, some will call sooner.  Please contact Lisa at 763-350-5233 if you have not been contacted by April 3rd.  Our rec teams are very full and we will put players who are signing up from now on onto a waiting list.  We can only add a few more players to each age group.  If we have enough players to make two more teams along with coaches than we will change the schedule to include those new teams.  We must have an even number of teams.

Please make sure you have an email account where you can be reached.  That will be the primary communication tool for all coaches and coordinators.

Also please check the website for weather conditions or cancellations.  Emails and the website will be the primary communication.  Everything that makes soccer successful is about the willingness to volunteer.  We have several coaching and co-coaching needs, please give your time to help make soccer a great experience for everyone.

Monticello Soccer Club Recreational League Program Description

The Monticello Soccer Club (MSC) was established in the spring of 1995 by a group of parents interested in providing boys and girls with the opportunity to play soccer. MSC is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and physical skills through soccer. A major goal of the club’s recreational league program is to provide all kids with the opportunity to play soccer at a fun and recreational level. Participation in MSC's programs has grown from 260 participants in 1995 to over 700 in 2009; this includes our recreational and traveling leagues. There are bylaws and a Board to direct and manage club activities. All staff are hardworking volunteers and all fees go directly toward club activities.

Modifications: Small-sided game modifications are made for the recreational program. The size of the playing field, players per side, size of ball and the goal is reduced in size to match the size of the players. Small-sided games are favored for the following reasons:

1.     Skill development is enhanced because of frequent contact on the ball.
2.     Fast acting fun with more actual playing time and real game action.
3.     Excitement is promoted by less time to achieve or advance the ball towards the goal.
4.     Exercise is critical since players play both offense and defense.
5.     The available field space is better maximized to serve all youth.
Coaching: We depend on our volunteer coaches. If you are willing to coach your child’s team you will receive a refund of one registration fee at the end of the soccer season (fall).  We have training opportunities and information available to our coaches.
Practice Times: Practices will always take place on either a Tuesday or a Thursday from 5:45pm to 6:45pm (see sign up form for preference if needed). Families may request same day practices when having multiple children in the program. Practice times may vary depending on team/coaching needs, please check with your child's volunteer coach for more information
Game Times: All games are on Saturdays at either at 9:00am or 10:30am.
Grade/Gender Divisions: Divisions are set by current school year grade level, not age.
Seasons:  The Recreational League seasons run Spring-Fall, with the spring session starting the first week in April, and fall session continuing the first week in Sept.   Teams are selected prior to spring session, and teams stay together through the fall session. The season concludes with a fall Jamboree, which is held the last Saturday of the season.
The Jamboree:  provides multiple games per team, and all participants will receive medals. The Jamboree has available concession and sign up information for the next recreational league season.
Cost:  The recreational league costs $65.00usd for the entire season.  Partial season, spring or fall, cost is also $65.00usd.  The club does from time to time may offer early registration discounts, please refer to registration documentation for more information
